It's the Year of the Palmtop Tiger and our blog kicks it off with a very special Philippine general election edition of The Goddess' Playlist! We're picking something from the 46g this time and choosing "Silent Majority" by Keyakizaka46, now known as Sakurazaka46.
Centered by Yurina Hirate and written by the legendary Yasushi Akimoto, the song was released on April 6, 2016 as the group's debut single. Meanwhile the choreography was done by Takehiro Ueno, and the music video for it was directed by Kazuma Ikeda and taken at the construction site near the Shibuya Station.
The single became number one on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart with 261,580 copies sold, which was also the debut top spot for Keyaki. It was also on the number one spot on the Billboard Japan weekly chart and has spent 149 weeks in it, making the sixth to do so.
The song tells about people and their perspectives on politicos, blind fanaticism and allegiances to the latter, and being stand back and fight for an almost godforesaken country, which is very making obvious and suiting to our current situation that we're facing right now. The chorus is one of these parts that take the bullet because it realizes us that we shouldn't always agree on the things that can harm our sanity and well being as humans, including our rights and the right to have a normal life.
The first and second verse are calling out people who're swearing on and following the corrupt with the old "eye-to-eye, teeth-to-teeth" rule and becoming blind followers of said evil creatures, and a ruler who deceives the citizentry with lies.
I'm not gonna force you to like Japanese idol groups or JPop itself, but have an open mind, "Silent Majority" is also meaningful but powerful song so you have to listen even with the translated lyrics regardless of your stance. Yet, I do hope you'll realize about what kind of people are we and country it is if we pick the wrong, questionable side of people, then there'll be a lot of consequences and worse, these also will be our downfall.

Happy New Year, lads, and welcome to my first blog entry for 2021! How's the celebration and rest days? I'm sure you deserve a wonderful time with your fam and friends before going back to the crappiest game in the whole freaking universe known as reality.
And for our first offering, I'm gonna discuss "Add the Berry to My Big Love" by Karen Miyama, who is best known for voicing Ichika Usami aka Cure Whip from KiraKira PreCure A La Mode.
First heard in the season's pilot episode, the song was fully released on April 26, 2017 as part of its first sweet etude character single featuring Whip herself, and also included in the second vocal and vocal best albums of the season.
I have to say nothing can describe this song but it's just too catchy but jolly! Other than that, it's also enjoyable and shown about Ichika's passion in making sweets.

To continue my blog's fifth year, I will bring back The Goddess' Playlist, this time it's from MNL48, the Filipino sister group of the Japanese idol group AKB48, and the song will be "365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel."
Originally as a coupling song for AKB48's 42nd single, Kuchibiru ni Be My Baby, the MNL48 version was first revealed during the March 2019 seitansai (birthday concert), followed by a 30-second teaser released on the group's official YouTube channel on April 4, 2019 and finally the official music video, produced by Plan C and directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, was released on the following day, April 5, 2019.
The song was considered the most emotional and tearjerking of all five singles MNL had, being the last MV to feature all the first generation members, as well as the last single for Sayaka Awane, who announced her graduation in MNL48 Interactive Live due to her family moving permanently in Japan, and Quincy Santillan, who got suddenly left the group due to unfortunate circumstances. Currently, the MV is nominated for MYX Music Awards 2020 as the mellow music video of the year.
The song was centered by Sheki Arzaga, who also centered the first two singles "Aitakatta Gustong Makita" and "Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie," and notable members who had been in the senbatsu such as Abby Trinidad, Sela Guia, Jem Caldejon, Brei Binuya, Coleen Trinidad, Awane, Kaede Ishiyama, Mari Iyog, Belle Delos Reyes and the also now-graduated Faith Santiago. 365 ANEP also marked the debut of Dana Brual and Dian Mercado as part of the main single senbatsu.
I really don't know how to put words on this, but the song and the MV gave me both goosebumps on my body and tears pouring in my eyes. Nevertheless, it has a beautiful translation, aesthetics and the inner nostalgic thoughts on how the group started. Very recommended for graduations, commemorated anniversaries and even in everyday life because it's a mellow-inspirational song, something we should be motivated and uplifted especially now we're facing an invisible enemy (and the other enemies in our surroundings).

After more than two years of absence, guess who's back with a new post? Welcome to the bigger, bolder and better than ever blog of Yona Kuromatoki and this time, I'm going to do the revamped Goddess' Playlist featuring one of my favorite songs from the currently aired Hugtto! PreCure, "Kimi to Tomodachi (Friends With You)" by Nao Tamura and Yukari Tamura as their characters Emiru Aisaki/Cure Macherie and Ruru Amour/Cure Amour. First heard as an instrumental-slash-humming version in the 15th episode of the current Cure season, the song was used as an ending theme for the 18th episode aired on June 3, 2018 and included in the season's first vocal album, ~Powerful Yell~, just last July 4 under Marvelous, Inc. Written by Fumi Tsubota, the head writer of Hugtto!, with arrangements and compositions done by Masayuki Fukutomi and Noriko Fujimoto, "Kimi to Tomodachi" reminded us on how the friendship between Emiru and Ruru become very sweet and touching despite their differences (that's right, darlings, Emiru is a human like us and Ruru is an android and a time traveler), and at the same time, one of the relaxed songs I've heard in the anison sub-genre. Surely, you won't get sick and tired of listening and singing this song that in which is perfect while getting stuck on the current traffic jam situation. That's the first thing come into my mind when a rookie defense attorney named Phoenix Wright (Ryuichi Naruhodo) pointed his middle finger that strikes like a typhoon at a respondent's legal counsel inside a Japanese courtroom with an American-styled twist. He is accompanied with a cutie gal in spiritual outfit named Maya Fey (Mayoi Ayasato), the sister of the late Mia Fey (Chihiro Ayasato), and yet the two are worked together to solve any incident before the Judge. That gesture is also used by Feenie's childhood friend and rival Miles Edgeworth (Reiji Mitsurugi) and among others in one of the popular game series of all time, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban.
The anime version has just come out almost two months ago and expected to end by this September.
Who's Rei Yasuda?
Rei Yasuda, real named Rachel Rhodes, is a singer and model of Japanese and Caucasian descent. Born on April 15, 1993 (gosh dang it, she's just turned 23 this year!) in North Carolina, US but move to Japan when Rhodes was just 3 years old. At 10, she was inspired to become a singer after hearing her mom listening to a song of Utada Hikaru. She is fluent in both Japanese and English. Rhodes then became of the Genki Rockets as a model and vocalist, under the name of Fumi, until she went to a solo career in 2013 with "Best of My Love," the ending song for the anime Space Battleship Yamato 2199. She is currently signed under Sony Music Japan (of which Marvelous, Inc. and SME Records being the child sub-recording companies) and served as an exclusive model for the Nylon Japan magazine.
And who the hell could've been remembered the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei second ending song that is "Mirror"? Actually, the anime itself marked my introduction to Rhodes *ahem, ahem* Yasuda, I mean (or whatever I can call her those) to the otaku playlist world in 2014.

Fast forward to two years later, the Rei Yasuda that I know is actually include for the Ace Attorney anime, wow! :O
Anyhow, her eighth studio single "Message" is used as the AA anime's first ending song and released on May 18, 2016, while the TV sized one is first release on April 13 of the same year, as Rhodes' fourth digital single. It has two editions: the regular CD and digital singles (which includes the TV size version of the song), and the limited editions.
And speaking of which, I have to take this special Royal Playlist post for the blog's first year of existence and in lieu with the cliffhanger yet miracle win of Madam Maria Leonor "Leni" G. Robredo as the 14th Vice President of the Philippines, the very first hailed from the Bicol region and the fourth lawyer VP of its Fifth Republic. This also sums her own triumph against a Marcos which took 30 years after the historic People Power Revolution. To be honest, Rhodes' "Message" is very suitable for VP Leni to lead the beloved Pearl of the Orient - with or without a cabinet post - in her own might.
Back to AA, if you see the TV sized ED featuring Maya Fey, then you might just get related to the song as we're about to sing to the tune of Rei Yasuda's "Message."

This time I will tackle about one of the best anime songs of 2015 and it's from Sorata Akizuki's Akagami no Shirayuki-hime entitled "Kizuna ni Nosete (Placed in Bonds)" by eyelis*, the same group behind the opening song of Hayate no Gotoku! Can't Take My Eyes Off You, the ending songs of The World God Only Knows: Tenri Arc OVA, and the first and fourth ending songs of the Zettai Karen Children anime spinoff that is The Unlimited - Kyousuke Hyoubu.
The first-ever single in more than two years and the overall fourth single for the unit, was released on Quezon City Day and Manuel L. Quezon's birth anniversary day, August 19, 2015, under Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Japan (aka the group's new recording label since the past year following their swap from Geneon Universal Entertainment) and as I mentioned earlier, "Kizuna ni Nosete" was used as the ending song for the Akagami no Shirayuki-hime anime first season. It was followed by a fifth overall one, "Page ~Kimi ni Tsuzuru Monogatari~," the latter becomes the ending song of the Akagami anime sequel, is set to release this February 3 in two different editions under the same record label. Let us retouch the first fateful meeting between our friendly red-haired royal pharmacist-slash-future princess of the Clarines Kingdom Shirayuki (it's just around the corner lol) and our kind-hearted, quite clumsy yet brave white-haired prince Zen Wistalia with eyelis' "Kizuna ni Nosete."
