The Goddess' Playlist Pride Special! Macaronage of Love and Excitement

Welcome to another edition of The Goddess' Playlist and this time we are celebrating Pride Month as I featured another song from the Pretty Cure Series, "Macaronage of Love and Excitement."

Performed by Saki Fujita and Nanako Mori aka Cures Macaron and Chocolat's seiyuus, and written and composed by the music group Nostalgic Orchestra, the song was released on July 26, 2017 as part of KiraKira☆Pretty Cure A La Mode Vocal Album: Cure La Mode☆A La Carte and again of KiraKira☆Pretty Cure A La Mode Vocal Best Album: Suite☆Etude☆A La Mode which released on January 17, 2018 under the label Marvelous!, distributed by Sony Music Marketing.

Some fans noticed the song as the gayest among the Cure songs as well as how it compared to Love Live!'s "Glass Garden/Garasu no Hanazono" and had quite similarities to Sailor Moon Crystal's "Eternal Eternity" (plus Sailor Uranus and Pikario/Rio Kuroki shared the same seiyuu that is Junko Minagawa).

Anyway I just can't contain any longer and my shipping goggles and gaydar went overload whenever I hear that song like several times and honestly speaking, ChocoMaca are among my favorite ships in the Cure series because they're so sweet (no pun intended) and their relationship is just very irresistible in both the anime (espcially episodes 25 and 29 oh my freaking gosh aaaaahh) and the manga, wherein the latter has some oozing gay content. Ahhh man, I really love this ship so much!!!

Okay fangirl squealing aside, check out the lyrics below if you want to sing along:

English

If it's halfhearted kindness, I've had enough
Leave me be; I can't leave you alone
Being nothing but sweet is a sin, Chocolat

Don't put up a front, hidden beneath the selfishness
Is a soft heart, even now about to break

Don't look at me; face me
So straightforwardly like that; show me
Into the depths of those trembling eyes

Mismatched hearts in a frenzy,
A macaronage that won't blend
If I were to lose or hurt, what's so important to me is
My only reason for wanting to protect you
Because I love you
I'll accept everything, even the memories
I'll go through all the trouble for you, with all my affections

Your coolness and your delicate side are all the real you
I won't lose sight of you; that's all beside the point
They're one and the same, Macaron

I'm not perfect, the cowardly me that no one knows
Has no problem hiding all her weaknesses for love

Don't run; why
I won't let go of you; I'm at a loss
Reflecting those impatient eyes

Hearts at odds overlap
A marriage wanting certainty
Rather than gestures, put it into words
I have to convey these burning feelings
This warmth and kindness I want to protect
If we're aware of it
Let's savor our racing hearts
As much as we want, until we melt even more

You're pushy, but I don't mind it
I'll take off that stubborn mask
Oh my, aren't you just like a prince
It's showtime, Madam

Don't look at me; face me
So straightforwardly like that; show me
Into the depths of those tearful eyes

Hold me tight

Mismatched hearts in a frenzy,
A macaronage that won't blend
If I were to lose or hurt
What's so important to me is
My only reason for wanting to protect you
Because I love you
I'll accept everything, even the memories
I'll go through all the trouble for you, with all my affections

The Goddess' Playlist: 365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel by MNL48

To continue my blog's fifth year, I will bring back The Goddess' Playlist, this time it's from MNL48, the Filipino sister group of the Japanese idol group AKB48, and the song will be "365 Araw ng Eroplanong Papel."

Originally as a coupling song for AKB48's 42nd single, Kuchibiru ni Be My Baby, the MNL48 version was first revealed during the March 2019 seitansai (birthday concert), followed by a 30-second teaser released on the group's official YouTube channel on April 4, 2019 and finally the official music video, produced by Plan C and directed by Carlo Francisco Manatad, was released on the following day, April 5, 2019.

The song was considered the most emotional and tearjerking of all five singles MNL had, being the last MV to feature all the first generation members, as well as the last single for Sayaka Awane, who announced her graduation in MNL48 Interactive Live due to her family moving permanently in Japan, and Quincy Santillan, who got suddenly left the group due to unfortunate circumstances. Currently, the MV is nominated for MYX Music Awards 2020 as the mellow music video of the year.

The song was centered by Sheki Arzaga, who also centered the first two singles "Aitakatta Gustong Makita" and "Pag-Ibig Fortune Cookie," and notable members who had been in the senbatsu such as Abby Trinidad, Sela Guia, Jem Caldejon, Brei Binuya, Coleen Trinidad, Awane, Kaede Ishiyama, Mari Iyog, Belle Delos Reyes and the also now-graduated Faith Santiago. 365 ANEP also marked the debut of Dana Brual and Dian Mercado as part of the main single senbatsu.

I really don't know how to put words on this, but the song and the MV gave me both goosebumps on my body and tears pouring in my eyes. Nevertheless, it has a beautiful translation, aesthetics and the inner nostalgic thoughts on how the group started. Very recommended for graduations, commemorated anniversaries and even in everyday life because it's a mellow-inspirational song, something we should be motivated and uplifted especially now we're facing an invisible enemy (and the other enemies in our surroundings).

For starters here's the lyrics:

The Goddess' Playlist (Blog Comeback Edition): "Kimi to Tomodachi (Friends With You)" by Nao Tamura and Yukari Tamura

Ruru Amour (left) and Emiru Aisaki (right) singing together outside the Beauty
Harry shop (the Hugtto Cures' secret base), as seen in Hugtto! PreCure
episode 18

After more than two years of absence, guess who's back with a new post?

Welcome to the bigger, bolder and better than ever blog of Yona Kuromatoki and this time, I'm going to do the revamped Goddess' Playlist featuring one of my favorite songs from the currently aired Hugtto! PreCure, "Kimi to Tomodachi (Friends With You)" by Nao Tamura and Yukari Tamura as their characters Emiru Aisaki/Cure Macherie and Ruru Amour/Cure Amour.

First heard as an instrumental-slash-humming version in the 15th episode of the current Cure season, the song was used as an ending theme for the 18th episode aired on June 3, 2018 and included in the season's first vocal album, ~Powerful Yell~, just last July 4 under Marvelous, Inc. Written by Fumi Tsubota, the head writer of Hugtto!, with arrangements and compositions done by Masayuki Fukutomi and Noriko Fujimoto, "Kimi to Tomodachi" reminded us on how the friendship between Emiru and Ruru become very sweet and touching despite their differences (that's right, darlings, Emiru is a human like us and Ruru is an android and a time traveler), and at the same time, one of the relaxed songs I've heard in the anison sub-genre. Surely, you won't get sick and tired of listening and singing this song that in which is perfect while getting stuck on the current traffic jam situation.

Anyway, enjoy this latest blog entry of mine and yep, welcome back to the blog scene!

PS. I'm now writing the Filipino translated version of the song, but boi this is kinda as tough as my winning piece in the Pinoy Otaku Festival's Tagalized Star karaoke contest! But either way, wish me luck.

I have so many things to say to you

Such as all the things I love about you
Tie our hearts together with a little ribbon
That lets you and I become friends
Your smile

(Your smile)
And tears
(And tears) squeezes something so deep inside
Right there, where our hearts are shining bright

You and I may be a strange pair

As well as completely different people
But maybe if we hug our hearts together
Everything will be okay
We'll forever be

The best of friends
Whose hearts are tied together by a ribbon

The Duchess' Royal Playlist: Kizuna ni Nosete by eyelis

The ED Single cover

FOREWORD: The following post was made to welcome the second season of the Akagami no Shirayuki-hime anime.

Welcome to The Duchess' Royal Playlist for the year 2016!

This time I will tackle about one of the best anime songs of 2015 and it's from Sorata Akizuki's Akagami no Shirayuki-hime entitled "Kizuna ni Nosete (Placed in Bonds)" by eyelis*, the same group behind the opening song of Hayate no Gotoku! Can't Take My Eyes Off You, the ending songs of The World God Only Knows: Tenri Arc OVA, and the first and fourth ending songs of the Zettai Karen Children anime spinoff that is The Unlimited - Kyousuke Hyoubu.

The first-ever single in more than two years and the overall fourth single for the unit, was released on Quezon City Day and Manuel L. Quezon's birth anniversary day, August 19, 2015, under Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Japan (aka the group's new recording label since the past year following their swap from Geneon Universal Entertainment) and as I mentioned earlier, "Kizuna ni Nosete" was used as the ending song for the Akagami no Shirayuki-hime anime first season. It was followed by a fifth overall one, "Page ~Kimi ni Tsuzuru Monogatari~," the latter becomes the ending song of the Akagami anime sequel, is set to release this February 3 in two different editions under the same record label.

Let us retouch the first fateful meeting between our friendly red-haired royal pharmacist-slash-future princess of the Clarines Kingdom Shirayuki (it's just around the corner lol) and our kind-hearted, quite clumsy yet brave white-haired prince Zen Wistalia with eyelis' "Kizuna ni Nosete."

English Translation
Resound louder
The beats of our united feelings,
Two of us would go
to paint all around this world
Warm sunshine has made
your smile bloomed
While syncing the sound of our footsteps,
Let's move forward
This vast future
touched by your kindness,
is the decided same path
I was longing that time
If you desperately pledge
to protect your beloved one
Even though have been apart,
distance would also be your own strength
Believe on,
to those earnest passions
that you hold in heart
and they'd be your shining guidance
Resound louder
The beats of our united feelings,
Two of us would go
to paint all around this world
Many times I ever hesitate
What should I do?
Keep repeating the same,
in this place where wind blows
Whenever I stopped in my way,
even these impatient feelings
You've warped all of them for me
I could hear
You were calling my name
That certain voice of yours
It's truly giving me
an irreplaceable courage
Forever, hopes would always be
a light that never goes out
Never hold back,
Keep on feelings
Spread out your own wings
Reach the destination
where birds fly away
as if soar up to the sky
Believe on,
to those earnest passions
that you hold in heart
and they'd be your shining guidance
Resound louder
The beats of our united feelings,
Two of us would go
to paint all around this world
Entrust to our connected bonds

The Duchess' Royal Playlist: Christmas in Our Hearts by Jose Mari Chan

The original/regular version

The 25th anniversary version

FOREWORD: This post is made to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Mr. Jose Mari Chan's first Christmas album.

Merry Christmas to all of us!

We know that we have different styles and trends of the holiday season, but we have the same reason why we're here in this world... The birth of our lord Jesus Christ.

And since Christmas is just around the corner, I'd like to share with you guys a wonderful song coming from Filipino singer-songwriter and businessman that's Mr. Jose Mari Chan, Christmas in Our Hearts. Originally an arrangement titled "Ang Tubig ay Buhay (Water is Life)" that's based on a poem by written by Chari Cruz-Zarate, the former was set the words of the music, intending to make it a silver jubilee song for the now Assumption College Class of 1963. Chan described "Ang Tubig ay Buhay" as a very beautiful poem, which is why he found it easy to compose a tune for it.

"It was a catchy, pretty melody, which I felt was too precious to use only for a Class Homecoming. So I decided to turn it into a Christmas song."

Before production started, Chan had attended Mass at Santuario de San Antonio in Forbes ParkMakati, when songwriter Rina Canizal knocked on his car window. Canizal later wrote the words of "Christmas in Our Hearts" using Chan's melody for Ang Tubig ay Buhay.

Christmas in Our Hearts was released on November 1990 by Universal Records Philippines. The album was sold over 600, 000 copies in the Philippines in 2006, certifying Double Diamond by the Philippine Association of Recording Industry (PARI). It's also considered to be the first OPM (Original Philippine Music) album to surpass the Diamond status and currently the country's biggest-selling album, selling more than 800, 000 copies to date. The album is also making Chan the only Filipino artist to achieve the feat, with two Double Diamond albums - the other one being Constant Change. It makes the best-selling OPM Christmas album of all time. In addition, it always tops album charts during Christmas season.

On October 30, 2015, the album has been re-released in digital format in celebration of its silver anniversary while the physical format was released just last November 11. Among the songs in the album include Chan's renditions of "Mary's Little Boy Child," "Do You Hear What I Hear?," "A Christmas Carol" and "When a Child was Born;" as well as originals like the titular song "Christmas in Our Hearts;" "A Perfect Christmas" and "A Wish on Christmas Night," with two new bonus songs have been included for the silver anniversary re-release album.

Let's smooth our nerves as the cold breeze goes in and listen to the all-time OPM Christmas song that sang by the young and the old alike, "Christmas in Our Hearts!"

LYRICS:

Whenever I see girls and boys
Selling lanterns on the streets,
I remember the Child
In the manger as He sleeps.

Wherever there are people
Giving gifts, exchanging cards,
I believe that Christmas
Is truly in their hearts.

Let's light our Christmas trees
For a bright tomorrow
Where nations are at peace
And all are one in God

Let's sing Merry Christmas
And a happy holiday,
This season may we never forget
The love we have for Jesus
Let Him be the One to guide us
As another new year starts

And may the spirit of Christmas
Be always in our hearts.

In every prayer and every song
The community unites,
Celebrating the birth
Of our Savior, Jesus Christ

Let love, like that starlight
On that first Christmas morn,
Lead us back to the manger

When Christ the Child was born

So, come let us rejoice
Come and sing a Christmas carol
With one big joyful voice
Proclaim the name of the Lord!

Let's sing Merry Christmas
And a happy holiday,
This season may we never forget
The love we have for Jesus
Let Him be the One to guide us
As another new year starts

And may the spirit of Christmas
Be always in our hearts.

Best of SeiYui Songs in the Pretty Cure Series Part 2: It'll be Fine Tomorrow Right?! (Ashita wa Hareru yo ne?!)

Fresh from watching Go! Princess Pretty Cure episode 41, which centralized about Yui Nanase and her new dream apart from being a future storybook author. Before I get into the second of the Best of SeiYui Songs in the Pretty Cure Series, I'll give some brief impressions about the episode:

自分にしか描けない物語を描いて・・・ 夢の力と、夢を守る事の大切さを伝えたい・・・
I want to draw a story only I can draw... The power of dreams, the importance of protecting those dreams... I want to express those feelings...
- Yui Nanase

WOW FANTASTIC BABY! That was my personal thought for this episode regarding Yui-Yui and I intend to agree on Kragito-kun that it doesn't matter she'll remain a faithful helper to the Princess Cures, but the willpower possessed within her is enough to battle the despair and never ever let her own dream and the dreams of the peeps go with that. Though almost manage to break the despair cage, at least Yui-Yui has got a try to do so and yet this was her third Zetsuborg possession (You see that, my bro Seiji?! I think you might be envied about your dear successor's hidden ability and it looks like your record-breaking stuff will be soon overshadowed! :p). But it's also the first time that a Cure helper is having a internal fight against the darkness with her willpower, in which for a quite longtime fandom supporter like me got a first taste. And oh yeah, kudos to the lovely Haruka Yoshimura for giving us her amazing voice and bringing Yui-Yui into existence!

The first part was full inspiration when Yui-Yui has drawn the Fire Palace and its majestic beacon rainbow back in the Dys Dark-controlled Hope Kingdom, but turns into a big challenge when Minamin brought a poster of the art contest with the theme of “Everyone’s Smiles.” Surely that our brave artsy Cure helper wants to compete and win that contest. Whenever I see Yui-Yui comes up for ideas, then I began to learn that she really reminds me of myself (although I'm into the journalistic field) who is very stressful and thinking too much about the right one for a certain theme. And the cake made by Haru-Haru, it's so sweet, plus the box with Ms. Shamour as the design! Mochizuki-sensei was there (phew, at last!) and got curious a little about our Cure helper. And even though Yui-Yui's looking around the peeps in Noble (Yuuki-kun, Hirano-kun, etc), still never come up any ideas although I laughed about Kokoda’s review in PCLJ (Pretty Cure Live Journal page) that Kanata should be her model for the art contest (dang it, look at dat bodeh!). XD Speaking of him, he can actually ported back to the Hope Kingdom with the Royal Key (and I STILL love his prince outfit!).

Boy, oh boy! Looks like Stop and Freeze wanna have give some more despair, eh? But one of the best things in the episode is when these two twin generals are about to attack some random kids at the garden, then it’s time for Yui-Yui to step in because of course she’s the helper of the Princess Cures, so her job is also to protect everybody’s dreams from Dys Dark, by taking up the hit for the kids. I was so grinned about Yui-Yui trying to keep that keyhole before it took for a closure. I think this was the toughest moment for Yui-Yui so far in the season. The part when she was almost losing hope while trapped in the dark, I was totally like “Dang it! Don’t give up, Yui-Yui! You can do it!!!” And all of the sudden, Yui-Yui was called by her Cure partners, stood up and attempted to break the cage using her willpower. But like I mentioned that the Cure helper herself has an internal fight against the despair and darkness within, in which the five past Cure helpers from Earth didn't have (I’m still looking at you, Seiji and even Kaoruko-obachan aka Cure Flower!).

I love what Yui-Yui has said, “What I want to draw… Only I can draw it!” Meaning, she wants to make something that only her can do and that is about the story about the Princess Cures and their heroics with the power of dreams. And I was so happy for Yui-Yui that she managed to resist the darkness with her own will and of course, Flora and her team… Her Cure partners, became her strength in times of distress in which, like I mentioned in this brief review: this has never been done with Miyuki Chinen, Kaoru-kun, Flower, Sebastian or Seiji before, only Yui-Yui has this and that my gosh! Anyways, after saving for the third time seems that Mermaid cited Yui-Yui for having that internal fight and Twinkle was wowed at her too. And so do I being a huge fan of the youngest Pretty Cure helper from Earth in this amazing mahou shoujo anime franchise in which I can proud of.

Wow, the obra maestra at the episode’s end! Such a beautiful painting and very colorful… the Rainbow of Dreams, emphasizes about the fighting for everyone’s dreams no matter what. I must say “omedeto gozaimasu” to Yui-Yui and again, praised to Yoshimura for her cute voice (both the actual and the singing) plus those two anime directors from my home country the Philippines, Francis Caneda and Alice Nario, for making this episode into another breath-taking and mind-blowing one in GPPC! *sighs* My gosh, it looks like Yui-Yui will now break Seiji’s record of 36 episodes in a Cure season because judging from the episode 42 preview, she's STILL there and kicking, making a tie between the two Cure helpers for now! And from episode 43 to the finale, welp, Yui-Yui will have been with 40 or more episodes! Dammit, I’m started to miss her so much! :/ But I think if Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure! would have a Cure helper from Earth, maybe he/she would exceed Seiji’s and Yui-Yui’s record of episode appearances if ever.

Something tells me that Yui-Yui and Dyspear have in common, which made me shock. And something also tells me that these two had possible connections (only time will tell if these stuff are wrong) because for me, Yui-Yui’s existence was just a mystery and so as Dyspear. I’d be surprised if the witch would have a "Luke, I'm your father" moment. Meanwhile for Mochizuki-sensei and Shirogane-san, something tells me that they'd have a lot questions to Haru-Haru and co about the so-called "rumored Princesses" within the finale arc (oh crap, it’s like Fresh and Doki Doki all over again! :o ). Of course, they'd affect their final all-out war vs Dys Dark as well as Yui-Yui's Cure helper duty.

Alright back to the usual drill, just so know that the Go! Princess Pretty Cure Vocal Album 2: ~For My Dream~ has released a month ago and I knew that our favorite Earthling ally of the Princess Cures gets a character song. Interestingly, "Ashita wa Hareru yo ne (It'll be Fine Tomorrow Right)?!" was done by Yu Shimamura and Haruka Yoshimura, the voicing gals who're behind our blooming Cure leader, Haruka "Cure Flora" Haruno; and our youngest Cure helper from Earth in the whole entire Pretty Cure Series anime so far, Yui Nanase.

As before we say "farewell" to the GPPC season, let's get listened this too amazing song first from our blooming Flora and her extraordinary yet resourcing roommate, friend and Earthling helper Yui-Yui!
