GD Keiko's Summer Anime 2015 Must-Seen Watchlist

A new season meaning newest set of anime lineups, so of more than 20 of the brightest (and not-so typical) shows, I now officially picked only 5 for this year's summer anime (due to school and expected to attend some otaku events on that period). Speaking of which, my lineup for the said season has quite smaller compare to last year's lineup with a total of 8 (including Free! Eternal Summer, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Tokyo ESP). Thus, I'll be put these five shows I chose along with the only two remained ongoing shows like Go! Princess Pretty Cure and Sailor Moon Crystal, which'd be received a third season next month.

Without further ado, here are my 5 "must-seen" shows for the 2015 summer anime in alphabetical order!

Akagami no Shirayuki-Hime (Red-Haired Snow White)

Mirror, mirror on the wall, that Snow White in red hair is the fairest of them all!

Anime studio: Bones (Eureka Seven, Star Driver, Captain Earth, Show by Rock!!)
Official webpage: http://www.clarines-kingdom.com/
Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Romance, Shoujo
Air date: July 6, 2015
Summary: The story of the original manga revolves around Shirayuki, a beautiful girl working as a medicine woman who has red hair, which is very rare in her country. When she is proposed and chased after by the prince of her country, she runs away, only to meet Zen, the prince of a neighboring country. Finding respect for the young man, she decides to serve at his side as his court doctor.
Impressions: Oh boy, after Show by Rock!!, there goes a fairy tale-styled anime coming from Bones studio for 2015! And I still get to hear Saori Hayami's voice again right after Hibike! Euphonium's first anime finale. Plus, the thing is I REALLY love Snow White very much in any format - whether the Disney animated, the live-action movie or the book version. However, this Snow White has red hair! Yes, she HAS red hair and of course, ain't forget her Prince Charming-turning-doctor? Whoa, I'd love and look forward to see that when it airs!

Gangsta: Animation Project

Exchange! MODE GANGSTA!

Anime studio: Manglobe (Hayate no Gotoku! Can't Take My Eyes Off You and Cuties, The World God Only Knows, Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited - Kyousuke Hyoubu, Samurai Flamenco)
Official webpage: http://gangsta-project.com/
Genre: Action, Drama, Seinen
Air date: July 1, 2015
Summary: In the city of Ergastulum, a shady ville filled with made men and petty thieves, whores on the make and cops on the take, there are some deeds too dirty for even its jaded inhabitants to touch. Enter the “Handymen,” Nic and Worick, who take care of the jobs no one else will handle. Until the day when a cop they know on the force requests their help in taking down a new gang muscling in on the territory of a top Mafia family. It seems like business (and mayhem) as usual, but the Handymen are about to find that this job is a lot more than they bargained for.
Impression: Finally, a Mafia anime! And it's been a while to watch an anime show from the studio since I'm done watching the 10th anniversary OVAs of Hayate no Gotoku!, so I decided to include this in my summer anime watchlist. I can feel the intense vibes in my nerves right now. >_<

Gatchaman Crowds Insight

The innocent notes are back with a new adventure... BIRD ON!!!!

Anime studio: Tatsunoko Productions (Gatchaman, Yatterman, Robot Hunter Casshern, Yoru no Yatterman, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Casshern Sins)
Official webpage: http://www.ntv.co.jp/GC_insights/
Air date: July 5, 2015
Genre: Sci-fi
Summary: We want to know about ourselves: About the fact there is no “society” in our “country”. About “society” and “people” living in different worlds. Feeling and reason. What is crucial is “thinking,” not “worrying”. Modern people are too “fast” — we breath shallow and quick. “We” are terrible at being slow and deep.
Impressions: I managed to finished the first season and well, it's alright so far although there are times that it has cliches in some episodes. And oh God, a second season for GC means MOAR Hajime Ichinose overload dammit, ugh!!!! Soooo... Gotta meet new peeps in this expected and incredibly new season of the show.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX

From only 3, our Symphogear girl group has increased to 6! Plus, new armors (again with a nosebleed) nice.

Anime studio: Satelight (Heat Guy J, Macross Frontier, Noein, Galaxy Angel Rune, Shugo Chara!, Log Horizon)
Official webpage: http://www.symphogear-gx.com/
Air date: July 4, 2015
Genre: Action, Music, Sci-fi
Summary: The third season of Senki Zesshou Symphogear.
Impressions: *fangirling scream* IT HAS FINALLY HERE!!! All the long wait of more than 2 years was really worth it and I am super duper ultra mega excited to witness this another epic chapter of Symphogear. Another new season means MOAR Bikki, MOAR Tsubasa and MOAR Chris-chan plus get to know MOAR on Maria, Kiri-chan and Shirabe as they're now added to Comm. Kazanari's league of musical armored gals. And... I heard that there are new enemies as well, but more than that is the armor designs. Hmm, I wonder what would be the new attacks and songs  this time around? Yet to say for me to look forward to was the new OP and ED by Nana Mizuki and Ayahi Takagaki, as usual haha. But seriously, yes, great to see Bikki and co back again in action.

Sore ga Seiyuu! (That's a Voice Actor!/Seiyuu's Life!)

These three aspiring seiyuus will definitely bring us awesome laughter and giving some cool tips on how to be part in the voice acting industry at the same time.

Anime studio: Gonzo (Vandread, Gate Keepers, Full Metal Panic!, Hellsing, Samurai 7, G.I. Joe: Sigma 6, Welcome to the NHK, Witchblade, Black Cat, Last Exile, Chrono Crusade, Rosario + Vampire)
Official webpage: http://www.soregaseiyu.com/
Air date: July 7, 2015
Summary: The original four-panel manga centers on Futaba Ichinose, Ichigo Moesaki, and Rin Kohana, three rookie voice actresses. The manga features small but humorous observations of the voice actor industry. Hajimemashite launched the manga at the winter Comiket event in 2011, and the duo have released new issues at Comiket events since then.
Impressions: If you guys already watched Hayate no Gotoku!, then I'll recommend this newbie anime because you'll be laughed out loud but also learned the basis on being a seiyuu/voice dubber at the same time, plus the setting shares with the one of Hayate. I think that I already heard about this manga a few years ago, but I didn't get a chance to read it due to my hectic schedule. The biggest surprise to me and to everyone else is the fact that the Hayate creator Kenjiro Hata-sensei and the seiyuu Masumi Asano (Go! Princess Pretty Cure's Minami "Cure Mermaid" Kaido, Zettai Karen Children's Oburo Kashiwagi and Hayate's Risa Asakaze) are the ones created Sore ga Seiyuu! under the circle name called "Hajimemashite!" Oh my G, man! I know that this manga's four years old, but it seems have a very nice story and oh, the studio Gonzo picked Sore ga in an instant. Therefore, I have a huge hint that the studio itself could be handled the animation (and the possible fourth studio that Hata-sensei's work to do so after Synergy SP, JC Staff and Manglobe) for a possible fifth season of Hayate, but let me wait and see.

And that's it for my summer anime 2015 lineups. If you have some anime shows already picked for your own watchlist plus your own impressions, please do comment either in this post, on my personal FB or my Live Journal accounts. I'd love to see your watchlists and what you would look forward to for the season.

Till the next post and gokigen yo!
